You might be watching our program while sipping a cup of tea, one of the world's most popular drinks. It's hard to know exactly when tea was first made into a beverage. Nor is it easy to drink in the authentic "Gongfu" tradition. But, some foreign ambassadors and their wives in China are trying hard to get it right.
Though not skillful, they are doing their best to make Gongfu tea as a Chinese master does. Some foreign ambassadors to China or their wives show their Kungfu of tea making for eight minutes at the opening ceremony of the current Tea Culture Tourism Festival in southwestern municipality Chongqing.
The ambassador of Grenada to China, Mrs. Marcelle Gairy says she was nervous at first on stage though she has had some practice before. As a tea lover, Gairy says she enjoys herself when making Gongfu tea.
As the name suggests, Gongfu tea needs Gongfu, which directly means time consuming. Even for Chinese urbanites in big cities, it's not often they have Gongfu tea. Not only does it require time and skill, the hardest part is to take your self out of the fast-paced modern rhythm.
Tea making and drinking is just part of the abundant events of the festival. Visitors are also treated to spicy Sichuan food and the rich tourism resources in Chongqing.
