A company of Terra-cotta Warriors has been unearthed in the largest pit of the mausoleum complex of China's first emperor Qinshihuang. And for the first time, most of them are painted in rich colors. Now let's take a closer look at this remarkable find in China's northwestern city of Xi'an.

The rich colors on the terra-cotta warriors is the biggest surprise. The clay warriors have black hair, green, white or pink faces and black or brown eyes. Ranging from 1.8 meters to 2 meters tall, a total of 114 terra-cotta warriors have been found at pit No.1.

Experts says it was hard to restore the broken pieces, spending about 10 days to restore one clay warrior. Photos of the new find are expected to be released later this month. And the latest information will be announced next week.

A number of other relics... including weapons, chariots, drums, and painted wooden rings... were also found.

Pit No.1 is one of the three where excavation started last June. The total area of the latest excavation is some 200 square meters, and consists of seven layers.

In October, 1979, the Museum of Qinshihuang Terra-cotta warriors and horses was opened to the public. Millions of people from around the world visit the site every year.
