Wednesday's 7.1 magnitude earthquake in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu in Qinghai province toppled electricity poles and damaged roads, cut power supplies and disrupted telecommunications.
On Saturday morning the main power grid resumed operation in the region.
After emergency repairs by 600 technical workers from the Yellow River Hydro Power Company and Qinghai Electric Power Company power supplies resumed in Yushu Saturday evening.
Street lamps around the square in Gyegu were lit and 80 percent of the relief shelters started receiving power. People living in more than 900 makeshift tents could use electricity.
