They saved the first group of nine survivors midnight on Sunday and found more alive this morning. A team of medical experts organized by the Ministry of Health has arrived in Shanxi to aide the rescue work. The local hospitals are well prepared for any emergency. The first group of nine people saved can now eat a little porridge.

Meanwhile divers and recovery teams are struggling to find more survivors. Rescuers say they have heard more pipe-knocking sounds, potentially indicating more survivors.

They have nutritious liquid in case they find new survivors. Meanwhile, more water is being pumped out to reduce the water level. That will smooth the next rescue operation.

The flood in Wangjialing coal mine took place when underground water rushed into the mine, which is under construction. More than 260 workers were underground at the time. One hundred and eight were lifted to safety immediately after the flood.
