Pavilions prepare for World Expo

| The Little Mermaid sculpture on her rock is hoisted from its place in the waterline at Langelinie in Copenhagen, March 25, 2010, to be transported to the World Expo 2010 exhibition in Shanghai. The sculpture of the mermaid was a gift to Copenhagen, donated by brewer Carl Jacobsen and executed by sculptor Edvard Eriksen. Adorning one of its walls is a Chinese painting that captures the city's history and culture. More local cultural elements will be introduced once the expo opens.
Meanwhile, the Taiwan Pavilion has adopted a more contemporary approach with its use of state-of-art technology.
Its massive cylindrical-shaped screen allows viewers to watch movies from both outside and inside.
Audiences will enjoy the 720-degree viewing experience, as well as other 4D effects including water spraying and aromas. The only thing holding it back is its limited capacity.
Qiu Huili, Director of Taiwan Pavilion, said, "It is expected to be visited by 800 thousand people during the Expo. That's our limit. Because we only have an area of 658 square meters. "
Staff are ready for its official operation on May the 1st, once its ten-day test run is completed.
Taiwan Pavilion organizers hope its prime location near the Expo's main building will allow it to capitalize on attracting visitors.
