The city wasn't New York but Las Vegas, and yet the "Sex and the City" stars appeared right at home at ShoWest - the film-exhibitors convention where they were presented with an award for Ensemble of the Year last weekend. Three of the film's four leads were present: Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.
The film may be about women and primarily for women, but Sarah Jessica Parker said the only reason the cast agreed to do a second movie was because of the participation of a man - writer-director Michael Patrick King.
King has called "Sex and the City 2" a road movie, and, indeed, it takes the cast out of New York to places as exotic as the Saharan desert. Its grand scope has led Parker to compare the project to "Lawrence of Arabia."
The original "Sex and the City" movie took more than 400 million dollars worldwide, making a sequel almost inevitable.
"Sex and the City 2" will be released across the globe from May 27th.
