Polar bears are facing an uncertain future, due to global warming. Their icy homes are melting away beneath them, and their population in the wild is gradually depleting.
Aviemore is one of Britain's coldest places perfect for a polar bear like Mercedes. She moved here four months ago, after 25-years in a small enclosure at an Edinburgh Zoo.
Now she's lapping up the Highland winter rolling around in the snow and sniffing out her environment.
David Barclay, Senior Keeper, said, "She's taking to it very well, she's been playing in the snow, rolling around, investigating different smells, trying to dig rabbits out of their holes, smashing through the ice in her pool."
But with the warmer weather, Mercedes has been displaying some odd behavior... including pacing in a small area of her enclosure for hours.
The keepers believe it's transition of seasonal change, and hope she'll be back to normal in a few weeks.
