A robot mascot of the Expo made its Shanghai debut on Monday. Haibao, which represents "treasures of the sea", appeals particularly to local children.

 

The robot appears to be a multi-functional machine which is capable of taking snapshots, greeting guests, and cracking a joke.

And to the accompaniment of pop music, the robot even managed a few dance moves.

A Shanghai child said, "I thought the mascot representing the World Expo has little to do with us. But now I find it very intriguing and endearing."

Different versions of Haibao, in ethnic costumes and work attire were also unveiled.
