The Haitian government has announced plans to shift thousands of homeless from makeshift shelters, to more permanent camps. It comes ahead of the April rains which threaten to cause further devastation.
With tens of thousands of people living outside in shacks and ramshackle dwellings, experts fear another catastrophe, this time from wind and rain. Meanwhile, the International Organization for Migration began registering people on Thursday in Port-au-Prince.
A supervisor for the IOM said old neighborhoods would be cleared of rubble and residents moved somewhere safe, in preparation for the coming rainy season.
