The 2010 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting will open on Wednesday in Davos, Switzerland. More than 2,500 participants will discuss challenges the world is facing such as the world's economic situation and climate change.
The theme of the 40th anniversary of the Davos Annual Meeting is "Improve the State of the World: Rethink, Redesign and Rebuild." In other words, rethink the values, redesign the cooperative systems and rebuild related international institutions. As many countries including the US, Japan and Germany have emerged from recession, banks are once again seeing huge profits while consumers are spending. Indeed the theme seems in tune with the times.
Over 200 working sessions will be held during the four-day annual meeting. Topics will focus on the post-crisis global economy, climate change talks after the Copenhagen conference and international cooperation.
China's economic growth, the integration of East-Asian countries as well as emerging economies in Latin America will also be discussed. In addition, the meeting will launch special discussions on how to offer relief to Haiti from the devastating earthquake.
