Despite all the days that have passed since the massive earthquake struck Haiti, rescuers are still finding victims alive under the rubble of some collapsed buildings. The discoveries are offering some hope and inspiration to rescue workers, working round the clock in the country's ravaged capital.
Right until this moment, six-year-old Nazer Erne may have thought he would never see the light of another day.
He managed to make some noise under the pile of debris which was picked up by a rescue team from southern Florida.
Rescuers said the boy did not respond at first but later said that he felt no pain and had only suffered a broken tooth.
Under the same pile of debris, 14-year-old Frangina was also saved but she cried because another child in her house had died.
More dramatic rescues were made earlier on Sunday
After surviving 126 hours in the debris, a 30 year old woman was pulled alive from the wreckage of a collapsed supermarket.
Joseph Zahralban, Rescue Team Captain, said, "Right now she's stable. She's talking to them having a discussion, they're asking her questions, she's responding, she's with it. So she's in very good shape for somebody who's been basically trapped for five days."
The rescue team said the woman survived on the water and food in the collapsed supermarket.
Emergency teams said they are still hopeful of finding more survivors in other parts of the damaged store.
Good news also came from the collapsed UN building.
A Danish member of the UN staff, Jens Kristensen, was rescued from the rubble after being trapped for five days. Rescuers said he was conscious and talking.
According to the UN, around 1,700 rescue workers have saved more than 70 lives. But an accurate death toll may still be weeks away. A conservative estimate puts the figure at around 100,000.
