Foreign survivors evacuated after the Haiti earthquake are arriving back home, to the relief and joy of their loved ones.

This graduate student was among the first wave of earthquake victims airlifted to the US for medical care.

She lost her leg while on a volunteer literary trip to Haiti.

Christa Brelsford, Earthquake Survivor, said, "At the start of the second wave I knew it was an earthquake. But I slipped going down the stairs, so my lower legs were crushed."

But she is not the only survivor in this Miami hospital.

Dr. Mark Mckenney, Jackson Memorial Hospital, said, "We have ten patients that we are caring for from the catastrophe in Haiti. We are currently expecting two more additional patients in the next few hours to come to Jackson Memorial Hospital."

A New Jersey church group with two high school students also returned home. They were in Haiti on a humanitarian mission when the quake hit the country.

Linda Callahan, Member, Trinity United Methodist Church, said, "We were in a school bus, thank goodness, almost tipped over but didn't, and that was what, you know, got us eventually out of there."

Meanwhile, two groups of French survivors have returned to France, bringing the total number of people evacuated from Haiti to 145.

Sophie Boutaud De La Combe, UN Mission in Haiti, said, "When the earthquake hits us, we react very promptly because we are trained to react to such events. So we hide ourselves under tables until the crisis was over and we moved out with our teams."

Relatives and friends were relieved to see them again But there are many anxious people around the world still waiting for information about their loved ones.
