Immediately following this, the county government set up temporary accommodation and provided residents with daily necessities and food, in addition to taking care of their cattle.

A local resident said, "The county government sent us food, and cattle feed. Though the house is unlivable, with the help, we will survive these difficulties."

In Altay region, snowfall topped 1 meter. Though the snow stopped Sunday, temperatures continued to plummet drastically. The lowest temperature in some parts of the region fell to minus 25 degrees Celsius. The regional government has sent over 5 thousand tons of cattle feed to snow affected areas.

A county official said, "We send 8 tons of cantle feed to the ranch. There are about 75 hundred herds, we will increase the feed supply, to ensure the cattle here survive the winter."

The Ministry of Civil Affairs has allocated 5,000 tents, 10,000 cotton-padded coats and the same number of cotton-padded quilts to the region...while the regional government has offered 15 million yuan, or 2.2 million U.S. dollars for disaster relief.

Staple goods such as flour and rice are also being distributed.
