As of 11 this morning, parts of highway 312 in northwestern China opened to traffic. This comes after heavy snow blocked a road stranding more than 7,000 trucks for at least two days.
The region was hit by heavy snowfall early Tuesday morning. Two trucks toppled over and blocked highway 312, which stretches from Gansu Province to Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
Temperatures fell to minus 30 degrees Celsius in the area, freezing trucks' fuel lines. Unseasonably early and heavy snow in China caused at least 38 deaths in November.
