Now we take a look at Afghanistan, where life is extremely hard. With another harsh winter on the horizon, the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is starting to distribute winter supplies to needy Afghans.
200 poor families in the Afghan capital of Kabul, receive blankets, sweaters, plastic sheets and bags of charcoal for lighting fires.
Nadia Hattayee, woman waiting for AID supplies, said, "We are here to receive assistance, like charcoal and other winter supplies."
Woman waiting for AID supplies, said, "All returnees do not have a house to live in. We ask the government to provide us with houses and other things we need. It is winter and we have a tough life."
The UNHCR distribution project is targeting poor people, internally displaced people, and those living in difficult to reach rural areas.
Grainne O'hara, head of SUB Office Kabul, UNHCR, said, "This morning's distribution is targeting about 200 families from four different locations within the city, but for the central region our plan is to reach 4,650 families, and for the entirety of Afghanistan over the course of this winter the UNHCR programme hopes to reach 20,000 families."
O'Hara also says the UNHCR is teaming up with the government and local partners to ensure relief reaches the less accessible areas of Afghanistan, so aid can also be delivered to rural families in need.
