A Zimbabwe-registered cargo plane has crashed at the Shanghai Pudong Airport with seven crew members on board.

A Zimbabwe-registered cargo plane has crashed at the Shanghai Pudong Airport with seven crew members on board.

The accident occurred at 7:40 am this morning a few minutes after the plane took off. Emergency teams have found four of the seven staff on board injured, while the condition of the other three remains unknown. Thick smoke was seen lingering over the airport runway and fire fighters were busy carrying out rescue work.

Airport authorities declined to comment on the accident, but said there were delays in flights leaving Shanghai. The Zimbabwe embassy could not be reached for comment.
