Police there claim to have shot dead an alleged suicide bomber in Islamabad. They say they're still hunting for two other suspects involved in the same incident.

The Inspector General of Islamabad, confirmed that three suspects were ordered to stop at a police checkpost in the capital. When one of the suspects got out of a car and moved toward the checkpoint, police opened fire.

A bomb disposal squad then defused the suicide jacket the bomber was wearing. The two other suspects fled, chased by police.

Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber killed an anti-Taliban village mayor and 11 other people on the outskirts of Pakistan's volatile city of Peshawar.
