Wu Yulu said, “After number one, I was encouraged by the success. My self-confidence grew by a hundred fold. So I began to make number two. Again it worked out. I was even more confident. So I became more ambitious. I began to conceive a robot that could climb a wall.”
Over more than a decade following the creation of number one, Wu Yulu made 25 robots, the last of which could pull a cart.
The cart-pulling robot earned Wu Yulu wide fame. Some of that attention found its way to the film and television industry where Wu Yulu finally found his calling. He became a prop maker and now uses his creative talents in support of other artists.
But the robots are still the farmer's favorite creation.
Wu Yulu said, "For me, making robots has been purely a hobby from the beginning. I do it entirely for fun. It's a very satisfying hobby. When I complete making a workable robot, I get an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. It makes me feel on top of the world."
With his perseverance and ingenuity, Wu Yulu has realized his dream. Right now, he is busy making his next robot.
