Chinese panda breeders say 25 cubs have been born since the May 12th Wenchuang earthquake last year. Caretakers at the Ya'an Bifengxia Breeding Base are expecting even more baby pandas this year.
26 celebrities from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and Taiwan Island recently visited the breeding base and enjoyed close contact with the young pandas.
Breeders say this year's mating season came a little late, so they expect another three to four cubs in the next two months. The base combines natural breeding with artificial caretaking to lower the fatality rate for infant pandas. All 25 cubs are in good condition.
