Floods triggered by Typhoon Morakot have damaged thousands of schools in the southern part of Taiwan. As summer vacation nears its end, local authorities are now working to resume schooling for students in typhoon-affected areas.
This is a temporary school in Pingtong county in the southern part of Taiwan. Local students and children from other disaster-stricken villages are gathering here to attend summer tutoring.
School Teacher, said, "Teachers should know the whereabouts of every student. We have to ensure that nobody is absent. Every student has to come to school, because we are going to organize a series of activities, which are relaxing and interesting. Students and teachers also should work together to rebuild schools. We have a lot of things to do. I hope that during this period, every child can be joyful and enjoy their time.
Many schools on the island were destroyed by typhoon winds and flooding. These temporary schools have become a new place to study.
The temporary schools have also taken the responsiblity of taking care of the children so their parents have the time to rebuild their homes and resume a normal life.
