The acrobatic version of "Swan Lake" has been a hit since it debuted in September 2004. From east to west, the performance has thrilled audiences around the world. Now, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Swan Lake has been staged again at Beijing's Poly Theatre over four nights.
Tchaikovsky might be surprised if he could see this version of Swan Lake.
Accompanied by the original score, the classical ballet repertoire takes on a new look interpreted by 120 performers in the nearly two hour long show.
Each character of Swan Lake wows audiences with circus tricks. Each scene is smartly mixed with acrobatic stunts.
The performer manage to show the grace and beauty of Swan Lake with agility and strength and sometimes in a humorous way.
And it's no exaggeration to compare this to the old Chinese saying that "one minute on this stage takes ten years of practice".
