With exactly one year to go now until the start of the 2010 World Cup, preparations remain on schedule in South Africa, with the all-new state of the art Green Point Stadium taking shape.
The 68 thousand seat venue looks set to meet its December 2009 completion date. The stadium enjoys an enviable location, nestled between Table Mountain and the South Atlantic coast and has been specifically designed to merge with the landscape. The all-new Green Point Stadium in Cape Town hosts its first World Cup match on Friday June 11th, 2010. FIFA president Sepp Blatter also took the occasion to express his optimism.
Sepp Blatter, FIFA President, said, "It is time to kick off now, not only to speak about the organisation in south Africa but to make sure that they can deliver, and they will deliver, and that is why this Confederations Cup with just one year to go is very important, it is very important also for FIFA and for the participating teams. But it will be a great, great competition I am sure, especially when you look at the names of the participants but it will be a great, great event."
