Hsu's performance in "Meteor Garden" helped her win a nomination for Best Actress in the Golden Bell Awards. She acted in a series of TV dramas including the sequel of "Meteor Garden"-- "A Chinese Ghost Story","Mars"and "Love in the Corner" to name just a few. The actress has also shared her beauty secrets in her book "Beauty Queen".
In 2005, Barbie Hsu made the switch to movies, with appearances in "The Ghost Inside" and "Silk." In 2008, she played against Hong Kong actor Louis Koo in director Benny Chen's "Connected" adapted from the 2004 American thriller "Cellular." She plays a young woman who is kidnapped with only one chance to survive: a broken cell phone. Hsu's breakthrough performance won great acclaim.
Soon after her success in "Connected", Hsu teamed up with Hong Kong heart throb Andy Lau in "Future Cop" in January. From the poor and weak Shan Cai in "Meteor Garden" to female cop, Hsu left her usual image behind to be a strong Kungfu fighting woman. Despite her fear of heights, she also experienced her first wire-action scene -- four floors high. Director Wang Jing appreciates Hsu's appeal to male and female audiences across China.
"Future Cop" has finished shooting and Hsu has moved onto the action film "Summer of Bubbles," produced by her good friend, Taiwan singer Peter Ho, who also has a role in the movie. Hsu plays a singer in the film, and will sing again after 8 years of silence.
