Qinqiang, also known as Shaanxi Opera, is the representative Chinese folk art in the northern province, as well as in neighboring areas. Its melodies originated from the rural areas of ancient Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. During a recent wedding ceremony held in the capital city of Shaanxi, Xi'an, the traditional art and costumes from the art form were on full display.
Wearing wedding garments popular during the Tang Dynasty over 1,500 years ago, six pairs of love birds walked up to the stage of the theater. And then received greetings from their families and friends, sitting in the auditorium.
The wedding was set on the stage of the Qinqiang play "Dreaming of Chang'an". One of the leading characters, the matchmaker, hosted the ceremony.
