China's Guo Jingjing has taken second spot in the female category of the United States Sports Academy's 2008 Female of the Year. Nastia Liukin finished first, while the 2008 Male of the Year went to Michael Phelps.

China's Guo Jingjing has taken second spot in the female category of the United States Sports Academy's 2008 Female of the Year.

A world-wide online vote was tallied on a ballot hosted on the USSA website, linking to USAToday.com and NBCSports.com. Guo Jingjing finished second. She won two golds in Beijing Olympics, including the 3m springboard and 3m synchronized springboard. Liukin finished first and Serena Williams third.
Michael Phelps finished first to win the Male Athlete of the Year Award. He set Olympics records for most career gold medals--14 golds and most in one Olympiad--8 golds. Phelps was trailed by Roger Federer and Usain Bolt of Jamaica.
