'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' poster

In 2000, Ang Lee's classic Kungfu movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" , produced by the American company Colombia TriStar, earned a higher gross than any other Chinese language film. The following year saw the entire output of Taiwan's film industry fall to just 10 feature length films. Once more Hong Kong produced films swept almost all of that year's Golden Horse Awards.
