A two year old world record for toppling dominoes was itself toppled Friday night. Organizers of an event in the Netherlands say, more than four million three hundred forty five thousand dominoes fell in sequence during a two-hour live TV show.
The annual event, known as Domino Day, took place in Leeuwarden. Eight countries picked up the live broadcast.
More than 85 young people from 13 countries took part in setting up the world-record challenge. The project took eight weeks after a year of planning.
Acrobat and former Miss Finland, Salima Peippo, toppled the first domino whilst suspended from the ceiling by ropes.
There was a small observance in memory of a sparrow which interrupted Domino Day in 2005. The bird was shot and killed after it flew into the exhibition hall, knocking over 23-thousand dominoes. That nearly sabotaged that year's event.
