Canadians are voting in the country's national elections. Polls have shown Conservative Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, will likely keep his job, but he faces a greater challenge in winning a parliamentary majority.

Canada is the first of Group of Seven industrialized nations to have elections since the global credit crunch.

On Tuesday, voters will choose the 308 members of the House of Commons, the Canadian Parliament, from candidates of five parties.

Casting ballots in their home provinces, party leaders from across the country tried to stay upbeat.
