Hainan province has seen 4 consecutive days of strong winds and torrential rain, due to a cold front and storms in the South China Sea.

Rainfall has totalled more than 300 millimeters in the eastern and middle parts of Hainan, with over 12 cities and counties seriously affected. The cities of Wenchang, Anding and Wanning have all been flooded and reservoirs in Wanning have exceeded their safe levels.
So far, 2 people in the province have died. The rain has also affected ferries in the Qiongzhou Straits and flights at Haikou international airport.
The local government has evacuated more than 10,000 residents. Hainan Meteorological Center issued a warning on Sunday and predicted it was likely to have rain-induced disaster zones in the middle and eastern parts of the province.
