A 450-kilogram bedridden man who had appealed on Mexican television for help to deal with his weight problems has died of heart failure.

Emergency workers had to knock down Jose Luis Garza's bedroom wall to get him out of the house. Garza was put in the back of a friend's pickup truck for the journey to hospital.
