Wu Ying is now a widely recognized street dance star in China. She founded China's first street dance team for the elderly. At a recent national sport dance competition, her team, with an average age of 60, won the championship.
Wu Ying, Street Dancer, said, "I went to the gym to find a coach. But they thought I was too old to do it. I promised I would take care of myself. I was a little shy at the beginning. But gradually, I became more relaxed."
Street dance's free movements require good coordination and control. Dancing lifts the spirits of elderly people and helps keep them in good shape.
Their "Red Handkerchief Dance" amazes spectators. For these elderly people, street dancing has become a way of life, and a chance to feel young again.
