Damian Melotte, organiser of "System Reload", said, "System Reload is a travelling international events platform, exploring the deep, green thinking around issues of sustainability."
Melotte and Kohtala are hoping the workshop will help others to design their own lifestyles to be more sustainable. To do that takes a rethink of one's life, and someone who's been working on that process is eco-designer Lili Larratea. Her appropriately named boardgame invites players to give everyday objects an eco-friendly makeover.
Lili Larratea, promoter of eco-friendly design, said, "We wanted to embed sustainability thinking in creativity and design and we thought it was a good way to get people thinking differently about their environment, the things they use, the services they use etc."
That different thinking is at the heart of the Seed Foundation's work as well. They've launched a composting project.
Clare Brass, co-founder of Seed Foundation, said, "The system is about getting food waste from people's houses within housing estates, composting that food waste on site and then using the compost as the tool to get people to understand the value of providing their food waste."
As more and more designers consider sustainability and environmental issues in their work, the future of "Good" design may also be "Green" design.
