Outside the orchid display, the show continued as dozens of local vendors sold flowers at wholesale prices - another huge draw for tourists.

Mary Kerrington, American tourist, said, "It's fantastic, it's lovely. We're very happy we came."

The two-day spring orchid show concluded in Rio de Janeiro's Botanical Gardens on Sunday.
