Pei Yanling, Kunqu opera artist, said, "Audiences from other countries are often drawn to the most authentic performing arts unique in China. They may have language difficulty. But it would be little problem as long as they enjoy a totally new art form."

Tenor Dai Yuqiang said, "The Olympics are not only about sports. It is one of the best opportunities for one country to present and promote its culture. Guests to Beijing have already seen its majestic stadiums and intrepid athletes. We want to show them the spiritual exuberance of the country. "

The Center, designed to be the cultural center of China, launched a five-month-long Olympic Performance Season.

The event offers a choice sampling of China's best performing arts.

Colorful music and dances rooted deep in Chinese history and culture impress audiences from faraway.

The event is a choosy sampler of Chinese and Western musical classics. However, prominent places are given to traditional Chinese operas.
