WTO trade and agricultural ministers have failed to reach a breakthrough in the Doha Round of trade talks after nine days of wrangling in Geneva. Chinese Minister of Commerce Chen Deming has called it a "tragic" failure.
Chen Deming said the talks among key WTO ministers aimed at making a breakthrough in the Doha Round, but collapsed on Tuesday after nine-day negotiations. He said the failure has further dispersed hopes of finishing the Doha Round this year.
Chen Deming, Chinese Minister of Commerce, said, "The Doha Round talks over the past seven years have solved 90 percent of the problems in world trade; it was successful. But what made it tragic is that the round failed on the last problem."
