More Chinese peacekeeping engineers have left the city of Zhengzhou, in Central China's Henan province, and are heading to Darfur. This marks the completion of China's deployment of a multi-functional engineering unit to the region.
These 172 officers and men will carry out core missions in Darfur including the construction of bridges and roads and drilling wells. They will join their advance team which has been working in the region since last November. The soldiers will use their expertise to help improve the lives of the local people.
