The Speaker of Japan's House of Representatives, Yohei Kono, says the Japanese people are looking forward to the Games because they are not only for China, but also for Asia as well.

Kono is also chairman of a Japanese parliamentary members' league aimed at supporting the Games. He says the Games will not only change the world's attitude toward China, but also benefits Chinese society.

The country will be more self-confident by hosting the Games. Although his August schedule is tight, Kono says he'll go to Beijing to support the Japanese athletes.
