Sino-India young ambassadors convey green messages

Traditionally, the world sees China as a polluter, rather than a country that holds answers to climate change problems, said Dr. Rebecca Nadin, assistant director of environment and science at the British Council China, to China.org.cn.

"This Green Journey not only draws attention to the best China has to offer in the way of environmental solutions, but to China’s young people who are committed to encouraging people to change their behavior in order to tackle climate change,” she said.

She also said that one of the three themes of the Beijing 2008 Olympics is the ‘Green Olympics’. The journey is a chance to celebrate the success China has had so far in promoting sustainable and environmentally-friendly projects.

"The program shows that even in cities where the Olympics are not taking place, China is taking environmental protection and promotion seriously, and in many cases, tackling it effectively,” she said.

"These young ambassadors will work to raise awareness of climate change. They will let more people know that tackling climate change is everyone’s responsibility. And these students are willing to bear that responsibility first.”
