The Olympic torch relay got underway in the city of Chifeng on Thursday, the last stop in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The first torchbearer was Narisu, the director of Chifeng Tourism Bureau. A total of 58 torchbearers took part in the run that covered around 6 kilometers. Famous Chinese actress Siqin Gaowa was the final torchbearer, lighting the cauldron at the end of the city's torch relay.
Chifeng, located in the southeastern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has 19 percent of its population being ethnically Mongolian. The torch will next head to Harbin, Heilongjiang province.
