Situated in the north suburbs of Guilin City, Jiangtouzhou has more than 1,000 years of history. Most of the villagers are descendants of Zhou Dunyi, a famous writer, philosopher and scholar of neo-Confucianism during the Northern Song (CE 960-1127) Dynasty; they are referred to as the Ailian family by outsiders. Jiangtou Ancient Village, the largest and best-preserved collection of ancient buildings in Guangxi province, is one of the seven most prized ancient villages of China. The village is characterized by a maze of narrow alleyways and well-constructed houses. The descendants of Zhou Dunyi were renowned for their virtuousness and righteousness.

How to get there: 1. Take a bus to Lingchuan County at Guilin north station (3 yuan) and change for bus to Jiuwu Town (3 yuan), then walk 10 minutes to get to the village;

                           2. Take a bus from Guilin to Jiuwu Town and change there to walk 2 kilometers.

Tips: 1. The village is characterized by its stone road in through the village;

         2. It may take 3 hours to get around the village.

         3. It is rainy in summer and chilly in winter. You’d better take an umbrella and waterproof coat and shoes.
