Qingdao logistics continues rapid growth

Qingdao's social logistics reached 2.5 trillion yuan (US$403 billion) in 2011, increasing 16.6 percent year-on-year according to the Qingdao Municipal Transport Commission. 

Qingdao's social logistics reached 2.5 trillion yuan (US$403 billion) in 2011, increasing 16.6 percent year-on-year according to the Qingdao Municipal Transport Commission. Meanwhile, value-added logistics reached 56.9 billion yuan (US$9 billion), increasing 10.9 percent year-on-year.

Infrastructure at Jiaozhou Bay International Logistics Park has been completed. The traffic volume has reached to 3000 TEUs per month from the original 600 TEUs per month.

In addition, the city's logistics operations have expanded to the Middle East, the Red Sea and Europe. The first intercontinental freight route from Qingdao to Los Angeles opened last week.

The Qingdao government is planning to pass a series of policies in support of further development of the logistics industry. Furthermore, it has established an information platform for the public.
