First built during the Ming Dynasty (1467 AD), Tianhou Palace (天后宫) has the longest history in Qingdao's urban area. It not only combines Tianhou culture, ocean culture and folk culture, but also has an excellent architectural complex. In 1996, it was renovated by Qingdao municipality and developed into Qingdao Folk Customs Museum. Now it has a floor area of 1,500 square meters, including 16 palaces. More than 100 folk cultural relics are kept at the museum, such as paper cuts, fancy knots, bead-weaving and clothing art.
