Meng Fanli was appointed the deputy secretary of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee, deputy major and acting mayor of Qingdao at the leadership conference held on March 25, 2017, in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao.

Meng was formerly the Party secretary of Yantai.
