Zhang Jiangting was appointed secretary of the CPC (Communist Party of China) Qingdao Municipal Committee at a leadership conference held on March 25, 2017, in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao.

Zhang will also serve as a member of the standing committee of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the secretary of the Shandong politics and law committee.
