Three of the city's eight airport shuttle bus lines have raised fares by several yuan since the beginning of the month to offset rising operating costs.
Shanghai Airport Bus Management, which runs the three shuttle lines between Pudong International Airport and downtown spots, posted notices at some bus stations to inform passengers of the adjustments.
The fare increase is the first in nine years.
Ticket fares on airport shuttle lines 2, 4 and 5 have now been raised to 22 yuan (US$3.22). Line 2, running between the Pudong airport and Jing'an Temple, used to charge 19 yuan per passenger while fares on Line 4, connecting the airport to Hongqiao Stadium, and Line 5, to Shanghai Railway Station, both were 18 yuan. A midnight line transporting passengers between the two local airports has also lifted fares from between 15 and 19 yuan to 16 to 22 yuan.
