The number of foreign tourists coming into Indonesia from January to August rose by 12.73 percent to 4.07 million people, compared to that of the same period last year, National Statisitc Bureau announced here Monday.
The number of foreign holiday-takers to Bali, the center of Inodnesia's tourist industry, increased by 12.74 percent to 195. 800 people, compared to that of the previous month, said Ali Rosidi, deputy for statistic distribution and services of the bureau.
Indonesia raises the target of foreign visitor coming into the country from 5 million last year to 8 million this year after extending visa on arrival to 63 countries and declaration of "the visit of Indonesia year in 2008," the country's tourism minister Jero Wacik has said.
