Guilin Liangjiang International Airport has formed a strategic cooperation relationship with Air Asia.
According to the agreement signed by the two parties, following the opening of the route from Guilin to Kuala Lumpur this year, four additional international routes will be launched over the next five years, including from Guilin to Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand, and from Guilin to Sabah and Penang in Malaysia.
In early September 2008, Air Asia opened four flights a week on the Guilin-Kuala Lumpur route and planned to increase the flight frequency to seven a week.
