According to local media, Chongqing has decided to build a series of hotels and resorts at the five-star levels around the city.

At present, there are two five-star standard hotels under construction in the Xiannvshan Mountain scenic area in Wulong, one of which is built by the Chongqing Longxin Real Estate Company and the other is a project developed by a Canadian investor.

In Fengdu county, Mingshan Ghost City has obtained an investment of CNY700 million to upgrade to the national 5A scenic spot level. And a new five-star standard hotel at the entrance of the scenic spot will be an important project together with a theme park. Jiangjin county also has a new hotel built to five-star level in an undeveloped scenic area of Simianshan Mountain. In Tongliang county, the Xuantian Lake Resort Area project includes a five-star standard hotel, a hot spring clubhouse, and an international conference center.

Construction of these projects is scheduled to start construction this year and will be completed by 2012.
