China Eastern, China Southern increase surcharges

Both China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines have increased their surcharges for the routes from mainland China to Hong Kong and Taiwan.

From August 1, China Eastern increased the surcharge of a single flight from mainland China to Hong Kong from the original CNY154 to CNY175, while that for roundtrip flight was up from CNY308 to CNY350. For the flight from Hong Kong to mainland China, the surcharges went up from the original HK$171 of a single trip and HK$342 for roundtrip to HK$231 and HK$462 respectively. And the surcharge for a single flight from mainland China to Taiwan was up from CNY175 to CNY225.

From August 6, China Southern also adjusted the surcharges for the routes from mainland China to Hong Kong, and Taiwan at the same rate as China Eastern. In addition, from August 1, the company increased the surcharge on the Shanghai-Taipei route to CNY225 for a single flight and CNY450 for roundtrip. In addition an insurance surcharge will be also added on this route.
