"Black Water City", located in the Gobi desert in the far west of Inner Mongolia, is under restoration recently. It was a major military outpost of the Western Xia regime (1038-1227) until it was captured by Genghis Khan in 1226. The place is famous for its Buddhist temples, mosques and a great number of cultural relics unearthed there.[Photo: Xinhua]
